I choose my topic by brainstorming. I am not the most creative person but I do my best to pick the easiest topic for me to write. Writing for me has not come easy and I struggle with it all the time. Taking 1101 helped me understand there is much more about writing than I ever thought. Taking your time to pick topic that is best for you is very important. Boring topics equals boring paper in my opinion.
1. Brainstorm Topic Ideas: Read, Talk, Sketch, Enjoy
Brainstorming is a something that everyone does. In your everyday life you brainstorm if you want to or not. Reading, talking, sketching, are all ways of brainstorming. Your mind naturally brainstorms everyday even if you are not consciously thinking about it. What helps me write, is come up with a bunch of ideas and then sleep. In the morning I will magically be able to elaborate on the ideas I previously wrote down.
What was your take away from the section you summarized? What do you feel is the "best way" to choose a topic? How can you avoid choosing a topic/ research question that you already know the answer to? The best way to choose a topic is to pick something that would be easy for you to relate to. Pick what is best in your eyes and what you think would be good to do.My current way of picking a topic is not very good. I am a spur of the moment type of guy and that is bad when it comes to writing.
