What is Layli Long Soldier referring to at this moment? Why is it important to note that she hadn't heard about it before? She is referring to an apology letter. She has not heard about it because the note took so long to get in to her hands. She is Native American and is being treated unfairly with the government.

"So even the phrasing of “the arrival of Europeans opened a new chapter for Native People” — that’s crazy. It wasn’t opening a new chapter. That’s almost poetry. I mean, that’s a very interesting way to look at what happened. And going further into the document, just the idea — for example, they never mention genocide. Things are phrased as “conflicts,” “lives were taken on both sides,” and things like that."

What phrasing is Long Soldier referring to here? Why does she point to the specific phrasing? What is so important about the details of phrasing? She is referring to the idea that everything said about what happened is changed and not the truth. People changed the graphic idea of what actually happen and lessening it to make it sound less important.

Why is specificity so important in this podcast? Why is it important in your writing? Making sure that what you write is logical and on topic. Many times when people like myself write I get off topic. When your talking about something very serious, you need to make sure that you are focused in an being clear to your reader. Like in the podcast, have your audience and make sure you specify those needs.

What is the structure of this interview? The tone? What can you take from this interview to incorporate into the ones you have to do for your research paper? I will be less biased. When asking a question many can tell what side you lean depending on the wording. I will do my best to be as generic as possible, no matter who I talk to.
